At the end of April, Board member, Asif Hossain, travelled to Bangladesh to visit family and Maria Orphanage. It was a whirlwind 10 days and the first time in many years that he had been in Bangladesh to celebrate Eid.
While he was at Maria, he (with help from others) installed two computers made possible by the grant from the R. R. Smith Memorial Fund Foundation. He delivered gifts from the Board in Canada, including sports equipment and art supplies. The football was a huge hit.
Asif also met with teachers at the Farhana School and Maria Orphanage school, to help with curriculum development.
In addition to meeting with the children of Maria Orphanage, Asif talked with many villagers and made connections with some young men in need of mentoring. He helped them with the soccer rules of the road - the boys were thrilled!
One really exciting piece of news is that Asif contacted a videographer who volunteered his time to video and photograph life at Maria Orphanage and village. Stay tuned for the finished product.
