Field trip to Farhana School
Here is a short update of what has happened over the past month, and, how this will impact the start of 2022!
After their field trip to Farhana School in November, the children are excited to take the next step in their education!
Eight children from Maria Orphanage will be attending Farhana School in the village of Dhupoil, 10 km northeast of Maria Village. As a pilot project, the children will start one day per week in January 2022, but we hope this will increase in the next term!
The children will be driven to school in the "bhutbhuti" a motorized 3 wheel van. Although Farhana School is only 10 km away, the journey will take about 40 minutes, as the van goes very slowly over the deeply rutted pathway.
Two new teachers, specializing in English and Math, are being hired and will be ready to start the new term.
If you are curious, here are some of the expenses (in Canadian dollars)
Uniforms (including shirts, pants/skirt, tie, shoes and socks): $25.00 per child
School registration: $7.50 per child
Monthly school fees, per child: $3.00
Books (English/Math): $6 per child
Tiffin (lunch-box): 50 cents per child
Transportation: $30.00 per month
Your donations will help send more children to Farhana School; and, will continue to support all the children at Maria Orphanage.
